Please read and sign this petition against a disastrous VAT law which could mean the end for many small businesses and sole traders who provide services online, including illustrators, photographers, designers, authors and more. www.change.org/p/pierre-moscov…
You're not completely safe in the US either, because if you are a seller of digital services within the EU you will have to register with each country where you have customers and collect data about their location. This data must be retained for 10 years, putting the privacy of anyone who shops online at risk.
If we can't stop this, it will be a precedent for similar laws in other countries, which should be a matter of concern for everyone.
Edit: The law seems to apply to mostly automated services such as selling printable files, templates, tutorials, stock photos, illustrations or designs, presets, brushes etc. Made-to-order commissions are probably safe, though i can't tell that for sure. Either way, it still sucks and we must kill it with fire before it lays eggs.
