"Facebook is free and always will be", says the signup page. Until it's not anymore. This isn't one of those chain mail scares, Forbes, AdAge and other reputable sources have announced it: onforb.es/NDipRp bit.ly/1jVnTC4
As page owners might already know, Facebook decided to reduce pages posts reach down to 1-2%, forcing admins to pay money so their posts will be visible to people who already liked their page, even those who added it to their interests list. In the long run, the reach is expected to drop to zero, so nothing will show up on followers' feed without being paid for.
This means that pages owned by small businesses, musicians, visual artists, authors, artisans, health and fitness instructors etc. - basically everyone who creates interesting content - will have to compete with multinational corporations and brands and allocate the same budget for posts visibility, which is obviously not possible. So most of them will quit and move on to other platforms, and Facebook users will be left to drown in a sea of ads, spam and irrelevant content.
